Erdogan to Receive Honorary Doctorate from Universiti Malaya During Official Visit to Malaysia
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Universiti Malaya (UM) during his official visit to Malaysia. This prestigious recognition honors his contributions to global diplomacy and international negotiations.
In a statement on Sunday, UM announced that its Chancellor, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, will confer the Honorary Doctorate upon Erdogan in a Special Convocation Ceremony at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on February 10.
The event will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.
Erdogan is set to begin his two-day official visit to Malaysia on Monday. On February 11, he will receive an official welcome at Perdana Putra, followed by a meeting with Anwar.
Discussions are expected to cover bilateral, regional, and international issues, further strengthening the Malaysia-Türkiye strategic partnership.
The visit will also see the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), followed by a joint press conference.
Erdogan’s visit will conclude with the Malaysia-Türkiye Business Forum, reflecting both nations’ commitment to enhancing economic cooperation.
