The healthcare ministry will talk about the WBB shift system plan at a senior retreat that lasts for three days
Today, Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad, the health minister, said that the Ministry of Health (MoH) will carefully discuss how to apply the “Waktu Bekerja Berlainan” (WBB) system during a three-day retreat that will focus on important wellness problems.
There are problems with human resources, ways to improve service delivery, and the unfair division of healthcare workers during the vacation in the city that starts today and lasts until January 19. It will also be possible to talk about the planned WBB scheme.
“Heads of the Ministry of Health are going on a retreat to talk about important issues like problems with human resources, ways to improve service delivery, and the uneven distribution of healthcare workers.” “We will also consider the WBB proposal,” he informed reporters at today’s news conference.
He explained that the WBB method is a novel approach to work organization that emerged from focused meetings with MoH personnel.
There were medical officers and experts at these meetings, which started on January 22, 2024, and took place in different areas of some healthcare facilities.
According to Dzulkefly, the suggested system is meant to work with the current on-call and shift systems for medical staff.
This program is meant to make medical staff less tired, improve their quality of life and well-being, and make it easier for them to help people.
For example, Dzulkefly said that the maximum number of active on-call duty hours should go from 33 to 18 hours per session. He also noted that no medical officer should work more than 24 hours in a row, and the maximum number of hours worked each week should be 72 hours.
There are three on-call meetings each week, meaning medical officers can work up to 99 hours.
