KUALA LUMPUR: The annual Malaysia Day celebration should serve as a source of inspiration and a manifestation of unity, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to the Wilayahku portal, he stated that the celebration should also ignite a deep love for the homeland among Malaysians across different races, religions, and cultures.

“For 61 years, our beloved Malaysia has been formed, and during this time, we have successfully overcome various challenges that have matured us together.

“Let us renew the spirit of the establishment of a free and independent Malaysia, reject division and hostility. Uphold unity to elevate the nation’s potential and capabilities to the highest level,” he said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, said that September 16, 1963, is the significant date of the formation of a sovereign nation, Malaysia.

She stated that more than six decades later, Malaysia remains a peaceful country enriched by a diverse blend of races, cultures, and religions.

“We must maintain this peace. Malaysia is a blessed land,” she said.
