Search operation for landslide victim continues – DBKL

KUALA LUMPUR: The search operation to locate the missing Indian woman involved in the landslide incident on Jalan Masjid India continues on its sixth day.

According to the Wilayahku portal, the Corporate Planning Unit of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) reported that the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia will enter the sewer system ‘upstream’ from the manhole at Wisma Yakin.

In a statement released by the Corporate Planning Unit of DBKL, it was mentioned that manual ‘shoring’ work and excavation have also been carried out.

“The K9 Detection Unit has been brought in to locate the victim.

“At the same time, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) work by the Department of Mineral and Geoscience (JMG) continues and will resume today,” the statement said.

Furthermore, the Corporate Planning Unit of DBKL informed that the road from Pondok Polis Jalan Masjid India to all houses has been closed to facilitate the work at the scene.

“We request the cooperation of the public to minimize movement in the area,” it said.

Previously, media reported that the landslide incident last Friday resulted in the disappearance of a woman identified as Vijayaletchumy, 48, from Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, India.

The victim was reported to have fallen into an eight-meter-deep hole at the location, with the search and rescue (SAR) operation entering its sixth day.
