Sports will continue to be a strong platform for fostering the spirit of unity, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Sports will continue to be a robust platform for nurturing the spirit of unity, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He expressed his excitement about Sarawak’s ability to host the 2024 Malaysia Games (Sukma).

“I express my excitement about Sarawak’s capability to host this prestigious sporting event, as well as the fighting spirit and healthy competition among the states and countries involved,” he said on Facebook.

He made these comments after attending the closing ceremony of Sukma 2024, which took place at the Perpaduan Stadium in Kuching, Sarawak, yesterday.

According to Anwar, sports can also serve as a space to strive for excellence and cultivate a high level of discipline.

He also announced yesterday that the Federal Government and Sarawak will jointly host the 2027 SEA Games.

“Congratulations to all the state and national contingents, coaches, and athletes who worked hard to make it a success,” he said.
