Government to host Palestinian solidarity rally at Bukit Jalil this Sunday
KUALA LUMPUR: For the second time, the government will organize another solidarity rally for Palestine, which is set to take place at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, this Sunday.
According to FMT, government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil stated that the Cabinet approved the rally, starting at 8 p.m., to show the support of the Malaysian people regardless of their political ideologies.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to attend, and the government has invited various parties to show their support.
“We are opening the space for everyone to come and express their solidarity,” he said at a press conference.
Fahmi, who is also the Minister of Communications, expressed hope that the rally will clearly signal that Malaysians’ stance remains unchanged and that they continue to stand with the Palestinian people.
On October 24, a similar rally, “Malaysia Stands with Palestine,” was also held at the Axiata Arena to express support for the country facing attacks from the Israeli regime.
Fahmi’s announcement follows the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in a Zionist regime raid on his residence in Tehran, Iran.
