Harith Iskander reflects on marriage challenges and children’s understanding

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Harith Iskander, 58, revealed that despite 14 years of trying to salvage his marriage with ex-wife Dr Jezamine Lim, 41, they ultimately had to resort to divorce.

“We had been making efforts to save our marriage for a long time. It wasn’t just me; Jezamine had also been trying,” Harith shared.

“We had exhausted all possibilities, and separation became our last resort. Every marriage faces challenges. It’s not healthy to view problems as the sole reason for divorce.

“Every relationship encounters different challenges, and the severity of these challenges can lead to unfortunate outcomes,” he explained in a report by Berita Harian today.

Speaking after the divorce proceedings at the Lower Sharia Court for the Federal Region, Harith emphasized that despite their divorce, he and Dr Jezamine remain good friends for the sake of their children.

“Jezamine will continue to manage my artistic career. We have handled this matter amicably and have reached agreements on all aspects of the divorce,” he added.

“We will continue our professional endeavors as usual. We have business responsibilities that need attention. While our marital relationship has ended, our friendship and partnership in business remain strong,” Harith stated.

Regarding their children’s reaction to the separation, Harith mentioned that they are beginning to comprehend the situation.

“We have informed them and created an open space for them to ask questions. As far as the children are concerned, they are coping well. We are ensuring that their social well-being is not disrupted,” he assured.

Responding to accusations of infidelity following earlier disclosures, Harith dismissed the need to dwell on the matter further.

“As addressed in a previous video, there’s no necessity to revisit that issue,” he clarified.

When asked about the possibility of reconciliation, Harith expressed faith in destiny.

“The future is in God’s hands, and none can predict what tomorrow holds. Even before marriage, I never knew I would marry. If it’s meant to be, perhaps one day we will be together again, God willing,” he concluded.
