KUALA LUMPUR: The water supply recovery for areas affected by the odor pollution incident in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah has now reached 83.5 percent.

Reported by Berita Harian, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) stated in a statement that the progress report on water supply restoration as of 7:30 am this morning involves all areas divided into three groups.

“The duration of water supply recovery in affected areas varies, depending on the distance of consumer premises and water pressure in the water distribution system.

“For Group 1, water supply in the affected areas has been fully restored by 7:30 am this morning. For Group 2, full restoration is expected by 8 pm tonight, while Group 3 is expected by 8 am tomorrow (Friday),” it said in the morning statement.

According to the statement, they continue to deploy water tankers to areas still affected, prioritizing critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and funeral services.

“Alternative water supply assistance through 16 Local Service Centers (PKS) is also provided for user convenience at listed locations.

“For commercial customers, treated water supply can be purchased at the Air Selangor customer service counters in Sepang or Hulu Langat regions.

“For this purpose, commercial customers can use their own water tankers at two water filling stations opened at Braemar Estate (Hulu Langat region) and Taman Gemilang Dengkil (Sepang region),” it said.

Air Selangor also advises users who have received or will receive water supply to let the tap water run until clear before use.

“Air Selangor hopes that water users will use water sparingly to ensure smooth recovery processes in affected areas.

“Users can obtain information on this unscheduled water disruption from time to time through official communication channels at https://waterupdates.airselangor.com/.

“Information can also be obtained through alternative official communication channels such as the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, and X, or by contacting Air Selangor via the hotline 15300 or visiting https://www.airselangor.com/,” it said.

Earlier reports stated that the incident led to the temporary shutdown of four Water Treatment Plants (LRA), involving LRA Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3), affecting over 1,000 areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor districts.
