Two young men detained in Gerik over alleged rape of 17-year-old

IPOH: Two young men have been arrested in Gerik on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl.

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood confirmed that the suspects, aged 18 and 20, were detained on Monday, July 22, and Tuesday, July 23, respectively.

Supt Zulkifli explained that the arrests followed a report made at the Gerik police station on Sunday, July 21, around 11:10 am.

“Examination results from the Lenggong health clinic have confirmed that the victim is pregnant,” he stated in a press release.

He added that the suspects will be held in custody for seven days while the investigation continues.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(A) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.
