1,250 police officers and personnel involved in the Agong’s coronation ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,250 police officers and personnel are involved in the assignment for the coronation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

According to Harian Metro, the Director of the Department of Investigations and Enforcement (JSPT), Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, stated that the assignment will cover the entire duration of the ceremony from July 18 to July 27.

“To ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony, all police officers and personnel involved have also been rehearsing since July 10 as part of the preparations.

“This is to ensure that all officers and personnel, not only from JSPT but also from other contingents assisting, understand their respective duties,” he said.

He made these remarks at a press conference in front of the main gate of the National Palace today.

Also present were the Deputy Chief of Police of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, and the Chief of JSPT Kuala Lumpur, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa.

Yusri said that their three main tasks during the ceremony are to escort VIPs, manage traffic, and enforce the law.

“Today, a total of 378 officers and personnel have been assigned to these three main tasks.

“As we are aware, 14 roads around the capital have been closed in stages to facilitate the ceremony.

“The roads were closed as early as 8 a.m. today and will be reopened as soon as the VIPs arrive and leave the National Palace for today’s events,” he said.
