On World Anti-Drug Day, Saudi Arabia sends a strong warning
Riyadh: The government of Saudi Arabia has stepped up its fight against drug use and people who trade and finance illegal drugs.
Colonel Omar bin Aida Al-Talhi, who is in charge of the National Center for Security Operations, said that the plan’s goal was to “eliminate” drugs and “protect society and its youth from their effects.”
His speech happened on June 26, which is International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This day was created by the UN in 1987 and is celebrated every year on that date.
The event, which is usually called World Anti-Drug Day, was “an important day that emphasizes the harm of drugs and how they affect nations, societies, and individuals,” Al-Talhi said. “This means fighting them in different ways and taking the initiative to report smugglers and dealers.”
“Because people are aware of the dangers drugs pose, have a strong sense of responsibility, and work together with the police, drug cases are reported cooperatively.”
He said that the Unified Security Operations Centers (911), which are part of the NCSO and are located in Makkah, Riyadh, and Al-Sharqiyah, got reports about drug dealers and smugglers and sent them to the right officials.
On Wednesday, Jazan Governor Prince Mohammed bin Nasser kicked off events for World Anti-Drug Day. This year’s slogan is “The Evidence is Clear.” “Let’s Put Money Into Prevention” at the Prince Sultan Cultural Center.
An exhibition is being held at the venue to raise knowledge about how drugs affect health, society, and culture, as well as the efforts being made to stop their use and spread.
The head of public security, Lt. Gen. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, said that the drug trade was a global problem that made things hard for many countries.
He said that the government of Saudi Arabia puts protecting its people and dealing with any risks to national security at the top of its list of priorities.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Minister of the Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud are in charge of the Kingdom’s war on drugs, which has been successful.
Asad Al-Bassami said that the country’s security forces were dedicated to safeguarding society, especially young people, from the harmful effects of the drug trade. He also asked everyone to stay alert to the continued danger.
Maj. Gen. Awad bin Mashouh Al-Enezi, who is undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Regiment Affairs, said that World Anti-Drug Day was a chance to remind people of how dangerous drugs are. He also said that his ministry was working hard to stop drug use and punish those who did it.
Major General Shayea bin Salem Al-Wadaani, who is in charge of the Border Guard, said that the Kingdom had done a lot to fight drugs and keep people safe.
