MB must openly affirm Tuanku Muhriz as Negeri Sembilan ruler, says Megat

KUALA LUMPUR: Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun must explicitly affirm Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the legitimate Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan to end confusion over the state’s royal leadership, a royal support group has said.

The Secretariat Taat Setia Sokongan DYMM Tuanku Muhriz said the Menteri Besar’s reported intention to seek the ruler’s consent for the upcoming state assembly sitting and Budget 2027 tabling amounted to clear recognition of Tuanku Muhriz’s legitimacy.

Its chairman, Megat D Shariman Zaharin, said the move was significant as the Menteri Besar had previously made statements without explicitly naming Tuanku Muhriz.

He said the Menteri Besar should go beyond saying he was “seeking an audience” and state clearly and unequivocally that Tuanku Muhriz was the legitimate ruler under the Negeri Sembilan constitution.

“The people of Negeri Sembilan want certainty, not vague statements,” he said in a statement dated today.

Megat also urged all parties to respect the decisions of the Dewan Kerapatan Undang (DKU) and the state government, including the gazetted dismissal of the Undangs involved in the ongoing royal dispute.

He warned against statements deemed insulting or defamatory towards Tuanku Muhriz, as well as individuals allegedly impersonating the Yang Dipertuan Besar or Undangs who had been dismissed.

The secretariat called on the police, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Attorney-General’s Chambers to take immediate and firm action against those involved.

It also said there should no longer be any dispute or confusion over the identity of Negeri Sembilan’s ruler, following what it described as the Menteri Besar’s recognition of Tuanku Muhriz.
