PH Maintains 21 Seats for Now, Any Changes to Be Decided by Coalition Leadership – Fahmi
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will, for now, contest 21 seats in the Melaka State Election, with any changes subject to decisions by the coalition’s leadership.
PH Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the coalition would focus on the seats that had already been announced.
“We have announced 21 seats. If there are any changes, we will leave it to the leadership to make the announcement,” he told reporters at the Lembah Pantai Parliamentary Deepavali Contribution Ceremony at IWK Eco Park@Pantai Dalam tonight.
He said PH would make its decisions based on the coalition’s own capabilities and capacity, while also taking strategic and tactical considerations into account when determining its participation in the state election.
“We know that several other parties will announce their candidates tomorrow. That is their right, but we will make our decisions based on our assessment of Pakatan Harapan’s own capabilities and capacity,” he said.
The media previously reported that PH was expected to contest three additional seats in the state election, with PKR securing one additional seat and Amanah receiving two more.
If finalised, the development would increase the number of seats contested by PH to 24, up from 21, out of the 28 seats in the Melaka State Legislative Assembly.
