KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO has unanimously agreed to political cooperation with PAS and other Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties ahead of the 16th Melaka State Election.

The decision was among five key resolutions adopted during the UMNO Supreme Working Council meeting held on October 28, 2026.

UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party had called on its entire machinery and supporters to work together in providing strong support for all candidates contesting under the Barisan Nasional (BN) and PN banners in the upcoming election.

The meeting also agreed that BN and PN would jointly introduce an election manifesto outlining their proposed policies and commitments to delivering the best possible services to the people while sustaining Melaka’s development and the progress achieved under the previous state administration.

UMNO also emphasised the importance of maintaining civility and integrity throughout the election campaign, urging party leaders and campaign teams to refrain from spreading slander, engaging in ridicule or launching personal attacks against political opponents.

Separately, the party urged the Federal Government, particularly the Finance Ministry, to review its decision to cancel several key development projects, especially in Sabah and Sarawak.

The projects include rural infrastructure initiatives involving road construction and the provision of water and electricity supplies to rural communities.

The five resolutions reflect UMNO’s position on political cooperation, election preparations, campaign conduct and the continuation of essential development projects, according to the media statement issued by Asyraf Wajdi on October 28, 2026.
