PETALING JAYA: All enforcement agencies have been instructed to act firmly and without compromise against any attempts to breach the country’s borders following the death of Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Intelligence Unit officer Senior Maritime Petty Officer (Technical) Mohd Roshaimi Mohd Ridzuan while on duty.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was deeply saddened by the officer’s passing and disappointed by the actions of those who threatened national security.

He said Mohd Roshaimi’s sacrifice must not be allowed to go in vain, stressing that any attempts to breach the country’s borders must be dealt with firmly and without compromise.

“My entire team and I are determined to take stern action against the masterminds and syndicates involved in migrant smuggling, as well as any parties protecting or collaborating with them.

“Those who betray the country by allowing our national sovereignty to be violated must also be brought to justice. The lives of security personnel and the sovereignty of our homeland must not be put at risk,” he said in a post on his Facebook page today.

Earlier, media reports stated that an MMEA officer was killed while three others were injured during an enforcement operation involving undocumented migrants in the waters off Kuala Sungai Padang, Perlis, last night.
