PUCHONG: Four factories were destroyed in a fire at the Puchong Industrial Park here on Thursday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.34 am.

“A total of 33 firefighters and officers from the Gombak Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by personnel from the Subang Jaya, Penchala, Petaling Jaya, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya fire stations, together with firefighting vehicles, were deployed to the scene, located about eight kilometres away,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Ashrul Riezal said that upon arriving at the scene at 6.45 am, firefighters found that the blaze involved four factories — a tyre factory, a pipe and valve equipment factory, a furniture factory and an engineering factory.

He said the fire was brought fully under control at 8.30 am, although firefighting operations on the roofs and inside the factories were still ongoing.

“There is still a risk of the roofs and building structures collapsing, but the fire has been brought under control,” he said.
