KKDW Does Not Spend Beyond Approved Allocation – Ahmad Zahid

CYBERJAYA: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) will not spend allocations exceeding the amount approved by the government, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the ministry’s expenditure is based on the allocation stated in the budget or the amount that has been approved by the government.

“The expenditures made indirectly answer the question raised by the KSP (Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican).

“There is not a single ministry that spends beyond what is stated in the budget speech or what has been allocated,” he said in his speech at the opening session of the Strategic Cooperation Workshop between the Rural Community Centre (PKD) of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) here today.

The issue regarding the KKDW allocation arose following Ahmad Zahid’s statement regarding the problem of delayed payments to contractors carrying out projects under his ministry.

He said the problem has affected contractors implementing government projects, and therefore stressed that the issue needs to be resolved so that payment delays do not drag on.

On 2 September, Johan informed that there were no restrictions on KKDW’s allocation for rural road projects, while the entire allocation for such projects had been channelled.
