MAHA 2026: Visitors Encouraged To Wear Face Masks Following Haze

KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors of the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 are encouraged to wear face masks following the current hazy weather conditions.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the advice is important as a health precautionary measure given that MAHA 2026 is expected to continue receiving large crowds.

Commenting on the response to MAHA 2026, he said the exhibition recorded approximately 140,000 visitors on its first day of opening yesterday.

He said the number is expected to continue increasing due to the ongoing holiday season.

“I hope visitors, if possible, are encouraged to wear masks because of the hazy conditions and weather.

“If possible, they should come bringing masks so that we can enhance health protection,” he said at a press conference after the MAHA 2026 Opening Ceremony at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), here today.

Elaborating further, Mohamad said the facilities and various activities provided throughout MAHA 2026 are expected to continue attracting the public, including the Ambang Merdeka programme scheduled to take place tomorrow night.

He said the Ambang Merdeka programme will begin at 11.30 pm, with drone shows and fireworks among the main attractions.

“Do not forget, there is moderate entertainment at night, ‘Rhythm of Farmers’. Ambang Merdeka begins at 11.30 pm with drone shows and fireworks,” he said.

MAHA 2026 targets potential investments of at least RM8 billion through the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoU) and memoranda of agreement (MoA), in addition to RM58 million in direct sales value.

Taking place from August 28 to September 6, MAHA 2026 highlights modernisation efforts in the agricultural sector through technology and innovation in line with the theme “Value Creation for Food Security”.
