Anwar Receives Phone Call From Sultan of Brunei

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, today received a phone call from the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Through a post on Facebook, Anwar said, Sultan Hassanal was pleased to ask after his well-being as well as pray for his health and welfare following the surgical procedure he underwent recently.

“His Majesty with great concern asked after my well-being and prayed for my health and welfare. I am deeply grateful for His Majesty’s prayers and concern.

“I also pray that His Majesty is always blessed with good health and remains under the protection and grace of Allah SWT,” he said.

In the same post, Anwar said, he is scheduled to have an audience with Sultan Hassanal next week in Bandar Seri Begawan in conjunction with the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC) between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

Previously, the Chief of the Medical Team to the Prime Minister, Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah, informed that Anwar successfully underwent an elective laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat an abdominal hernia (para-umbilical hernia).

The Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, also informed that Anwar is expected to remain under the observation of the medical team for two days.
