Amirudin Claims Racial Politics Caused PH’s Defeat in Negeri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: PH Election Director, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari described the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) campaign as having an extraordinary identity and racial nature, which led to PH’s defeat.

He claimed the campaign method only caused unease among the people.

“This state election saw an extraordinary racial campaign that was almost entirely identity-based, capable of sowing elements of division in society and the state.

“This attitude can cause unease and suspicion among the people, especially between the Malay and non-Malay communities,” he said at a press conference at the Pakatan Harapan Operations Centre here tonight.

Amirudin said, on the contrary, throughout the two weeks of campaigning, PH raised basic issues that are very close to the people.

“The dichotomy (division of the people) between non-Malay and Malay in the political trend is very evident and this must be corrected in the future towards a politics of national unity as stated in my statement a few days ago, and there is still a way and room for us to correct it.

“I hope there must be political honesty among all supporters and political players so that we do not continue to create division in society,” he said.

However, Amirudin said PH remains firm that the method to develop Negeri Sembilan and Malaysia must prioritise basic issues rather than politics that frightens the people.
