2 Female Students Found Dead at Sungai Pari Flats

IPOH: Two 14-year-old female students were found dead yesterday after they were believed to have fallen from the upper floor of the abandoned Sungai Pari Flats near Buntong here.

The victims, who were close friends, were students at the same school in Ipoh and attended the afternoon school session.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, said preliminary investigations revealed that the two victims were claimed to have left the school compound voluntarily before they were discovered unconscious at the location.

“At this stage, the investigation has yet to find any evidence indicating the involvement of any other party.

“However, the investigation is ongoing, and the actual cause of death can only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis are completed,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Alwi urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Ipoh District Police Headquarters operations room at 05-2451500 or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.

He also extended his condolences to the families of both victims and urged the public to respect the families’ privacy.

“The public is advised not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the police investigation,” he said.

A photograph of the two female students has also gone viral on social media.

Both of them were seen still wearing their school sports attire during the 5 pm incident, with the school located approximately two kilometres from the flats.

The flats were once the tallest residential flats in Malaysia, standing at 15 storeys, and were among Ipoh’s most recognised landmarks, renowned for their distinctive bowl-shaped roofs.

Built in 1963 as a public housing project, they were gradually vacated from 2012 onwards, following concerns regarding the structural integrity of the building.
