MB Announces 10 Johor State Exco Members For New Term

JOHOR BAHRU: A total of 10 Johor State Executive Council members for the new term took their oath of office at Istana Bukit Serene here today.

The swearing-in ceremony took place before the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail this morning.

The ceremony was also attended by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor Royal Council President Datuk Dr Rahim Ramli and State Secretary, Datuk Mohammed Ridha Abd Kadir.

Onn Hafiz announced the new Exco lineup at his official residence in Saujana here this afternoon.

Four of the Exco members are new faces, while the rest are incumbents retained in their respective portfolios in the administration of Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The new Exco members are Kukup State Assemblyman Md Israk Abdullah; Panti State Assemblyman Dr Mohd Naqib Ghazali; Pulai Sebatang State Assemblyman Hasrunizah Hassan; and Perling State Assemblyman P Pannir Selvam.

Md Israk was appointed as Chairman of the State Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry and Rural Development Committee; Dr Mohd Naqib as Chairman of the State Education and Information Committee; Hasrunizah as Chairman of the State Women, Family and Community Development Committee; and Pannir as Chairman of the State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee.

Six previous Exco members were retained, namely Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor as Chairman of the State Housing and Local Government Committee; Mohd Hairi Mad Shah as Chairman of the State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Committee; and Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid as Chairman of the State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee.

Also retained were Mohd Fazli Mohd Salleh as Chairman of the State Works, Transport and Infrastructure Committee; Lee Ting Han as Chairman of the State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee; and Ling Tian Soon as Chairman of the State Health and Environment Committee, to continue their responsibilities in the state administration.

Meanwhile, four previous Exco members were dropped, namely Khairin-Nisa Ismail (Chairman of the State Women, Family and Community Development Committee); Datuk Zahari Sarip (Chairman of the State Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry and Rural Development Committee); Aznan Tamin (Chairman of the State Education and Information Committee); and K Raven Kumar (Chairman of the State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee).

Of the four Exco members, only Khairin-Nisa was not nominated to defend her Serom state seat in the 16th Johor State Election.

Last Sunday, Onn Hafiz, who is also the Machap State Assemblyman, took his oath as Johor Menteri Besar for a second consecutive term after Barisan Nasional (BN) secured victory in the 16th state election.

The Johor state election, which took place last Saturday, saw BN winning 48 out of 56 state seats, thus being given the mandate to form the state government for the new term.
