KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) presented six statements in the Dewan Rakyat throughout the Second Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 15th Parliament, while also continuing various proceedings to ensure that the country’s financial governance is implemented transparently and accountably.
PAC Vice Chairman, Teresa Kok, said the committee also held a series of proceedings to investigate issues raised in the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) Number 1 2026 by calling witnesses from various ministries and government agencies to provide testimony.
She said among the main issues investigated was the management of student fee collection and expenditure at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), involving seven proceedings that also involved UKM’s top management, UKMShape, former university senior officers and relevant officials.
“PAC also held five proceedings regarding the National Research, Development, Commercialisation and Innovation Programme involving the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
“The proceedings also involved the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI); the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM); the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) as well as various other research agencies.
“Among the agencies called to give testimony were MIMOS Berhad, Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF), as well as UKM and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM),” she said at a press conference at Parliament today.
Meanwhile, Teresa said the committee also began proceedings regarding Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) under the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) by calling representatives from JPM and PHB.
She said proceedings regarding the issue will continue next week involving former PHB management.
“PAC emphasises that every proceeding conducted is not merely aimed at finding weaknesses, but rather as a checks and balances mechanism to improve the government’s service delivery system.
“The involvement of various witnesses from various agencies demonstrates PAC’s commitment to obtaining a holistic picture of every issue raised,” she said.
She said PAC will continue to submit recommendations for agencies to implement and ensure appropriate follow-up action by the executive branch in the interest of the people and the nation.
“It must be stressed that PAC will remain committed to carrying out its functions to ensure that every ringgit of public money is spent prudently in accordance with established regulations,” she said.
