National Day: Roar of Fighter Jets, Helicopters Shake Putrajaya Skies

PUTRAJAYA: The roar of fighter jet engines tearing through Putrajaya’s airspace this morning seemed to transform the skies of the administrative capital into a thrilling action stage, enlivening the 69th National Day celebration.

One by one, fighter jets appeared before performing flypasts and formations over Dataran Putrajaya, capturing the attention of thousands of visitors who had come to witness the celebration.

Even more captivating was the fact that the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Chief, General Tan Sri Muhamad Norazlan Aris, was himself in the cockpit of a Sukhoi SU-30MKM, leading the aerial display for the second consecutive year.

The roar of four Sukhoi SU-30MKMs, four F/A-18D Hornets, and three BAE Hawk 208s echoed across Putrajaya’s airspace, creating moments that were not only entertaining but also showcased the capability and readiness of the nation’s aerial assets.

Each aircraft flypast was also accompanied by commentary from Major Patrick Dinnesh, Major Neny Suhaida Ab Suki, and Captain Muhammad Iqbal Nasrudin, who explained the aircraft’s actions and formations to the audience, adding to the thrill and excitement throughout the show.

The 10-minute display began at 9.30 am with several specially planned aerial formations, including the Kite Formation, Diamond Formation, Delta Formation, and Victory Combine.

The roar of the fighter jets was then followed by the appearance of C130H Hercules, A400M Atlas, and CN235 transport aircraft, showcasing the RMAF’s capability in carrying out transport and logistics support roles.

Also drawing attention was the appearance of helicopter assets, including the RMAF’s EC725 and AW139, flying in formation together with assets from the Malaysian Army, the Royal Malaysian Navy, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, and the Royal Malaysia Police.

For visitors at Dataran Putrajaya, the aerial display was among the most eagerly anticipated moments, with every flypast greeted by cheers and eyes fixed skyward.
