KANGAR: A social media influencer has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist in investigations into a case of raping and recording pornographic images of an underage teenage girl in an incident last month.
Kangar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said the remand order against the 23-year-old man, who works as a shoe shop assistant in Kuala Lumpur, was issued by Magistrate Ana Rozana Mohd Nor at the Magistrate’s Court here today.
Yusharifuddin said the incident is believed to have occurred on June 17 after the suspect allegedly brought the victim, aged 14 years and 11 months, to a rented house at Jalan Tiong, Taman Kangar here.
“Following that, the suspect is believed to have recorded images of the victim during the incident,” he said here today.
Yusharifuddin said while in the room, the suspect also acted to invite the victim to have sexual intercourse.
He said the suspect then sent the victim home at approximately 4 am.
“The complainant will also be taken to Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) for further examination.
“The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code / Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said.
