Muhyiddin And Wife Complete Voting, Hope Voter Turnout Exceeds 70 Per Cent
MUAR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) hopes that the voter turnout for the Johor State Election today will exceed 70 per cent, despite heavy rain hitting several districts this morning.
Its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said the weather conditions may have a slight impact on voter turnout, but he is confident that the people’s spirit to fulfil their responsibility remains high.
“I am not sure whether the rain will continue until late afternoon and this may have a slight impact on the voter turnout.
“But if I look at the people’s spirit, traffic is also congested. Many have returned from Kuala Lumpur to vote.
“So in my view, even with the rain, I hope the voter turnout will still be quite high, not less than 70 per cent,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after casting his vote at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Muar here today.
Also present was his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, with both of them arriving at the polling centre at approximately 10 am before entering the polling hall.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin also urged voters who have not yet fulfilled their responsibility to do so even if weather conditions are unfavourable.
“Even with the rain, what matters is that we must vote. I urge all those who have not yet gone out this morning to immediately go out and vote and give their support to their chosen candidates.
“What matters is that voters can fulfil their respective responsibilities and after this process is completed, Johor will have a new state government,” he said.
