PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim invited young people to get back on track to together raise the nation’s dignity through the MADANI Malaysian Citizenship Training Module which was launched today.

Berita Harian reported, he said, the module involved was designed based on the principles of the Constitution which also appreciates the contribution of the country’s previous leaders and freedom fighters.

“I invite the young people to return to the path of wanting to elevate the country, it must be with confidence, it must be with the spirit of unity, the spirit of love for the country as well as the belief that this country can be lifted as a great country in the eyes of the world.

“This is based on a policy that we clearly set out, that Malaysia is a trading country, it needs parent power but it also needs external confidence and investment,” he said.

He said this while delivering the keynote speech at the Launching Ceremony of the Malaysia MADANI National Training Module here.

Anwar said that the modules produced by the National Academy of Malaysia (AKM) together with collaborative partners emphasize on getting to know the country’s history.

He said, the struggle of previous fighters and the participation of all races enabled this country to achieve independence and sovereignty due to their contribution.

“In this module, we appreciate the contribution of leaders, former freedom fighters, from all states in the Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak because they have merit but appreciating the contributions of old merit does not bind us in a frozen state.

“Imagine poor parents, willing to hand over rings, bracelets and necklaces, (so) supplies for the leader to fly (board a plane), expenses to London, talk with the British (colonizers) to demand independence, but this spirit sometimes fades because we are busy with self-interest without thinking about the well-being of the people.

“As mentioned by French thinkers, to evaluate the contribution of fighters, previous thinkers, not simply to express appreciation or forget them but to fuel the spirit they planted, this is the task of many young people today,” he said.

Touching on the Malaysian National Academy, the Prime Minister said, it is a field and arena to cultivate love, the spirit of unity and love for the country.

“In this academy we have to be firm, we don’t want to turn it into a field or arena to divide and instill hatred,” he said.

In the meantime, he said, young people should seize opportunities with various technological advances in addition to being ready to face reality and challenges and step forward with new enthusiasm.

“In the past, we were known for the manufacturing industry, now with energy, with information technology, digital and AI (artificial intelligence), data centers and semiconductors, and you know, thankfully (that) Malaysia is recognized as the premier semiconductor center in the region.

“All major companies in the field of digital, new technology, AI, are coming to Malaysia, there is Microsoft, Google and the leading semiconductor companies from Europe, so young people should seize the opportunity,” he said.
