Arab, Gulf Nations Condemn Latest Iranian Attacks

DUBAI: Kuwait has condemned Iran’s latest attacks, describing the military action as a continuation of “brazen aggression” while regional and international efforts are actively underway to de-escalate tensions.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry stressed that national security, sovereignty, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents, are “red lines that cannot be crossed.”

Meanwhile, Jordan also condemned Iran’s brutal attacks on Kuwait, describing them as a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and the security of its territory.

Jordan also described the action as a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.

Egypt also condemned Iran’s repeated attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, and several other Gulf countries. Cairo described Tehran’s actions as a violation of the sovereignty of the affected countries, a serious threat to Gulf security and stability, and an unacceptable act that could further aggravate tensions in the region.

“Egypt affirms its complete rejection of any actions that violate the security and sovereignty of friendly countries or threaten the security and stability of the region,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also reiterated calls for all parties to exercise restraint and take steps to de-escalate tensions in order to preserve regional security and ensure peace and stability.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched a joint operation using missiles and drones targeting the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait as well as several other key United States (US) military locations in Bahrain in response to US military attacks on Iran.

Earlier, the US launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran in response to attacks on tanker ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Anwar Gargash, said Iran’s attacks on Qatari and Saudi commercial tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as repeated attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, show that Tehran has still failed to meet demands to de-escalate tensions and end the conflict.

“The Arab Gulf countries cannot continue to be targeted while Iran keeps oscillating between an approach of escalating tensions and a path towards rationality, stability, and peace,” Gargash said in a social media post.
