Anwar Denies Any Order to Block Certain Parties from Entering Felda
DENGKIL: The government denies that there is any order to prevent any party, including state governments, from entering Felda areas to carry out certain programmes or activities.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was not aware of any claims regarding the matter and stressed that the Federal Government did not issue any such order as alleged.
“There is no order. The Federal Government deals with federal projects. The state, do state matters. What’s all the fuss about?” he said when met after performing Friday prayers with the public at the Jameatus Solehah Pekan Dengkil Mosque, here today.
He said this when asked to comment on the alleged claims that certain parties were being barred from entering Felda areas, as also raised by UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
Elaborating further, Anwar said he did not pay much attention to such claims as the government is currently more focused on carrying out its duties and responsibilities to the people.
“I’m not clear, I don’t really entertain these comments. We have a lot of work to do. Who has been stopped? But if you, for example, have a plan, just go ahead and do it properly. Is there a problem?” he said.
At the same time, he reminded that those who are currently campaigning should not expect assistance from the Federal Government for purposes related to election campaigns.
“But don’t, in this situation, while in the middle of a campaign, expect the Federal Government to help. That’s not allowed,” he said.
Earlier, Menteri Besar Datuk On Hafiz Ghazi claimed that he had received an order not to enter Felda areas and was not allowed to attend several programmes held at the settlement.
The former Machap State Legislative Assemblyman (ADUN) also questioned the action and asserted that he went to Felda areas in his capacity as Menteri Besar to engage with the people and resolve issues involving settlers.
Prior to that, Dr Muhamad Akmal demanded that the Prime Minister clarify who was actually preventing the Johor Menteri Besar from entering Felda areas.
The same demand was also made by him against the FELDA Director, after Deputy Prime Minister who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied issuing any such order or restriction.
