Woman Charged With Murder Of Indonesian Woman

SEPANG: A woman was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with the murder of an Indonesian woman at a condominium in Bandar Sunsuria, here, early this month.

The accused, Chin Siau Lan, 44, was charged with murdering Puteri at a unit at The Olive Condominium, Bandar Sunsuria, at 2.31 pm on June 3.

Siau Lan, who is self-employed, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and if not sentenced to death, shall also be liable to whipping of not less than 12 strokes.

The accused acknowledged that she understood the charge. However, no plea was recorded.

Deputy Public Prosecutor V Luvithaa requested a mention date for the submission of documents related to the case.

“No bail is recommended for the accused as this is a non-bailable offence,” she said.

Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani then set July 21 as the mention date.

The accused was represented by lawyer V Ayasamy.
