MADANI Communities Urged to Fight Misinformation by Sharing Accurate Government Updates, Says Fahmi

KOTA BHARU:  MADANI Communities nationwide have been urged to play a greater role in ensuring the public receives accurate, verified, and reliable information on government initiatives and development efforts.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the responsibility should be carried out collectively and should not rely solely on government agencies such as the Information Department (JAPEN) and the Community Communications Department (J-KOM).

Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme on Tuesday, Fahmi emphasised that community networks are important in helping spread correct information and counter misinformation among the public.

He highlighted several government initiatives that have delivered direct benefits to the people, including efforts to strengthen national food security by ensuring sufficient rice supplies, especially during festive seasons.

The minister also pointed to the implementation of the Electronic Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (eCOSS) under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), which has helped improve access to subsidised packaged cooking oil.

“Previously, it was difficult to find packaged cooking oil, but through this system, people are now able to obtain it more easily,” he said.

Fahmi said such achievements reflect the policies and efforts implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and should be communicated clearly to the public by MADANI Communities.

He added that stronger public awareness and accurate information-sharing would help communities better understand government programmes and their impact on daily life.
