KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Hajj pilgrimage is not merely a religious journey but a spiritual institution that shapes the soul, purifies the heart and inspires Muslims to return with renewed dedication to religion, society and the nation.

In a Facebook post today, Anwar said history has shown that the spirit of freedom and courage among Muslims often emerged strongly after pilgrims returned from Makkah, as seen in many movements of awakening and social change throughout the Islamic world.
“Alhamdulillah, today I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Hajj pilgrims from Permatang Pauh and Tambun who will soon become guests of Allah SWT,” he said.
During the gathering, the Prime Minister also shared the story of Malcolm X, who returned from the Holy Land with a broader perspective on humanity, peace and the brotherhood of mankind after performing Hajj.
Anwar said the experience of Hajj carries profound lessons in humility, unity and compassion while strengthening spiritual awareness and responsibility towards others.
He also prayed that all Malaysian pilgrims would be blessed with a mabrur Hajj, have their affairs eased throughout the pilgrimage and return safely to the country carrying a renewed spirit for their families, communities and beloved Malaysia.
