REMBAU: Anwar Ibrahim is expected to make several major announcements for Malaysian youths during the National Youth Day 2026 celebration taking place on Friday at X Park Sendayan.

The three-day event, themed “Empowering Madani Youth”, will officially begin at 9am and is expected to draw thousands of young participants from across the country.

According to Mohammed Taufiq Johari, the prime minister will also launch several new initiatives, including the Youth Development Action Plan involving collaboration among all ministries.

Speaking to reporters in Rembau on Thursday, Mohammed Taufiq said the plan had previously been discussed by the Cabinet Committee on Youth and Sports Development and would be implemented in phases across states and districts nationwide.

He encouraged young Malaysians to attend the event in large numbers, adding that various youth-focused programmes organised throughout the country are targeting participation from more than 4.3 million people.

The minister said this year’s celebration focuses on five key pillars: employment and job creation; leadership and volunteerism; active lifestyles; innovation and digital transformation; as well as culture, arts, and music.

Earlier in the day, Mohammed Taufiq attended the closing ceremony and prize presentation for the 38th Institute of Youth and Sports Skills Training Championships held at the National Youth Advanced Skills Institute Chembong.

The National Youth Day celebration is among the government’s major annual platforms aimed at strengthening youth development and increasing young people’s involvement in nation-building initiatives.
