Pezeshkian tells Macron that Iran is ready for diplomacy to end the war and will protect national rights. President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran told President Emmanuel Macron that the Islamic Republic is ready to use real diplomatic channels to end the war but will not compromise on protecting the rights of the Iranian people.

The president of Iran also said that Tehran still has a lot of mistrust for the White House because Washington always moves aggressively during negotiations, which complicates the potential for successful diplomatic engagement and raises concerns about the sincerity of the US in the peace process.

A readout from the Iranian presidency says that during their phone call on Wednesday, the two presidents talked about the strategic situation in the region, including the Strait of Hormuz issue and the progress of the talks and temporary ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US.

According to Pezeshkian, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to truly try to end the war through diplomatic means that are in line with international law. They also emphasised the importance of respecting the rights of the Iranian people.

People don’t trust the US because of “stabbing from behind”.

When asked why Tehran doesn’t trust Washington, Pezeshkian said it’s because of bad behaviour by the US.

“This mistrust is due to hostile actions by the American side. The most recent examples are the two attacks on our country during negotiations, which hurt us deeply.”

It was illegal for the US and Israel to start their war of attack against Iran on February 28, while nuclear talks were still going on. They killed Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who led the Islamic Revolution, and a number of other important officials and soldiers.

Both the US and Israel have also bombed residential buildings, schools, and hospitals all over Iran.

What did the leaders of Iran and France say about what was going on in the Strait of Hormuz? Since the war started, Iran has had tight control over this important waterway.

As a sovereign right, Iran has set up a new way for ships to pass through the sea that needs them to get permission first, which has raised concerns among international shipping companies and prompted discussions about maritime security in the region.

The phone conversation also covered the initial ceasefire agreement and Pakistan’s mediation efforts.

Beginning in early April, there was a shaky ceasefire. However, Iran claims that the US is violating the ceasefire by threatening and obstructing Iranian ships, which has stalled talks between Tehran and Washington.

France has been one of the few European countries to keep official ties with Iran open during the war, and Macron spoke with Pezeshkian in March.

Iran seeks the removal of the illegal blockade, an end to the war, and compensation for damages. Indirect talks have not led to a breakthrough.
