KUALA LUMPUR – An innovative digital tourism initiative in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) was officially launched today, marking a new chapter in Malaysia’s efforts to promote its culture and tourism industry to the Chinese market.

Known as the Digital Cultural Card Project, the initiative combines culture, tourism and digital technology as part of a fresh promotional model aimed at attracting international visitors, particularly from China.

The launch ceremony was held simultaneously in Kuala Lumpur and Beijing through a real-time interactive connection, symbolising a new milestone in Malaysia-China cooperation in the digitalisation of cultural tourism.

The media event was jointly organised by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MiTDA) and NQ Cultural Commercial Sdn Bhd.

According to organisers, the project is led by NQ Cultural Commercial Sdn Bhd, which has received approval from Tourism Malaysia to utilise the official Visit Malaysia 2026 logo and mascot intellectual property.

The Digital Cultural Card is designed as an innovative entry point for promoting Malaysia’s rich heritage, diverse travel destinations and unique experiences through engaging and shareable digital content.

By integrating interactive storytelling with digital experiences, the project aims to strengthen Malaysia’s tourism branding and increase the country’s global visibility.

Organisers said the initiative will also collaborate with Malaysian businesses and brand owners to create an ecosystem that integrates culture, tourism and trade.

Through the platform, Malaysian signature products, brand stories and quality services will be presented in a more creative and interactive format to reach Chinese consumers and wider international audiences.

The project’s intellectual property belongs to Tourism Malaysia, while NQ Cultural Commercial Sdn Bhd serves as supervising publisher.

Shanghai HexaBloom Innovations Cultural Development Co Ltd and Oriana (Beijing) Cultural Assets & Global Solutions Co Ltd are co-publishers, while Signchina International Travel Admin Sdn Bhd is the rights holder in Malaysia.

The initiative is expected to inject fresh momentum into the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign while further strengthening bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and China in tourism, culture and the creative economy.

Organisers added that the project will continue expanding its content ecosystem by integrating online digital cards with offline physical interactions, allowing Malaysia’s tourism offerings to be showcased in a more dynamic and immersive manner to global audiences.
