KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim demonstrated strong interest in advanced defense innovations during his visit to the Defence Services Asia and National Security Asia (DSA & NatSec Asia 2026) exhibition at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

After officially opening the region’s premier defence and security event, the Prime Minister toured the exhibition floor, accompanied by Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He visited multiple booths representing participating countries, where he was briefed on a wide range of modern defence systems.

During the walkabout, Anwar paid close attention to emerging technologies, including electronic warfare systems, advanced simulators, unmanned platforms, and other next-generation military solutions. He was also seen engaging directly with exhibitors and personnel, reflecting a hands-on approach to understanding the latest developments in the defence sector.

A key highlight of the visit was his stop at the Malaysian pavilion, where local companies showcased homegrown capabilities. The display underscored the growing strength and potential of Malaysia’s defence industry, aligning with national efforts to enhance self-reliance and technological advancement.

Held under the theme “Empowering Capabilities and Resilience Through Technology,” DSA and NatSec Asia 2026 marks its largest edition to date, featuring 1,456 companies from 63 countries. Notably, 368 Malaysian firms are participating under the newly introduced Malaysian Defence Industry Council pavilion.

The four-day event, running until April 23, also welcomes first-time participants from countries such as Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Japan, and Russia, further reinforcing its status as a major global defence platform.

The exhibition highlights Malaysia’s growing role in the international defence landscape while fostering collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships across the industry.
