PUTRAJAYA, Jan 30 : The government has reaffirmed its firm stance against abuse of power and corruption within the civil service, stressing that no individual will be spared from action regardless of rank or position.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the public service will fully cooperate with enforcement authorities in all investigations related to misconduct, including cases involving senior officials.
In a statement on Friday, he said any civil servant found guilty of abusing power or engaging in corruption would face action in accordance with the law.
“There will be no compromise whatsoever in taking action against any civil servant, including those at the highest management level, if they are found to have violated the legal framework,” he said.
Shamsul Azri emphasised that rejecting corruption, abuse of power and governance misconduct is essential to preserving the credibility of the public service and preventing the erosion of public trust in key national institutions.
He added that integrity must remain the foundation of effective public service delivery, including efforts to curb revenue leakages and to protect national security and sovereignty, in line with the aspirations of the Malaysia Madani administration.
Over the past year, enforcement agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have carried out a series of high-profile actions involving senior officers across various ministries and government agencies.
These operations, he said, underscore the government’s determination to strengthen accountability in areas including financial management, procurement and the misuse of authority.
The Madani Government, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has consistently highlighted integrity as a core pillar of governance, reiterating that firm and impartial action is necessary to restore public confidence and safeguard the nation’s administrative institutions.
