PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Education (MoE) will prioritise the implementation of the New Preschool Curriculum and the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2026–2035 as the cornerstone of the national education agenda this year.

The Education Minister said the 2026 New Year address delivered yesterday was not merely ceremonial but represented a firm commitment to elevating the country’s education system for the benefit of future generations.
She acknowledged that the education system still has gaps, but emphasised that past experiences have provided valuable lessons and opportunities for comprehensive improvement.

“Amid challenges, there are always opportunities and hope. We have a clear direction, and it is now time to ensure all plans are translated into tangible action,” she said.
She explained that the New Preschool Curriculum will serve as a key foundation in strengthening early childhood education, while PPPM 2026–2035 will set the long-term strategy for improving the entire national education ecosystem.

At the same time, the ministry will continue prioritising student, teacher, and school welfare, as well as efforts to enhance education access and meet the inclusive needs of students with special educational requirements.
This year, the ministry will also open 17 new schools, upgrade 50 dilapidated schools, and equip 1,801 schools with computer lab facilities. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems will be installed in 333 daily boarding schools to strengthen security.

To expand education access, the MoE will commence operations at the Malaysia Special Education Sports School, add 200 new special education classes, and introduce seven new Sekolah Komprehensif 11.
The placement of 564 teacher assistants and 600 hostel wardens is also expected to ease the workload of school staff.

In addition, learning innovation will be enhanced through the deployment of artificial intelligence in 800 schools, while the DELIMa 3.0 platform will be upgraded with AI capabilities to support digital teaching and learning processes.
In concluding her address, the Education Minister called on all education stakeholders to work together to ensure that every plan is fully implemented.

“Let us move forward with determination. Every child deserves the best possible education. This year is our year,” she said.
