Police Seize RM3.3mil Worth of Syabu After Driver Abandons Vehicle Near Damansara Toll Plaza

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (VoM):Police confiscated 150 kg of suspected syabu valued at RM3.3 million after a black multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was abandoned near the Damansara Toll Plaza along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the incident unfolded at about 4pm on Monday (Sept 29), when a Central Zone A1 Highway Patrol Team flagged down the MPV at KM18 southbound for suspicious driving behavior.

“The driver ignored police orders, sped off, rammed through the toll barrier, and abandoned the vehicle in the right lane near Damansara Toll Plaza,” Yusri said in a statement today.

A search of the abandoned vehicle led officers to six green sacks, each filled with 25 smaller packets labelled in Chinese as ‘Chinese Pin Wei.’ The 150 packets, each weighing about one kilogram, are believed to contain syabu, a methamphetamine.

The vehicle and drugs have since been handed over to the Petaling Jaya district police’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division for further probe. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Police have launched a manhunt for the driver and urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Insp. Nor Izzat Norezairi at 016-8289910 or report to the nearest police station.
