MELAKA, Sept 28 (VoM):International actress and Melaka Tourism Friendship Ambassador Datuk Fan Bingbing has expressed deep admiration for Malaysia’s top singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, and hopes to one day collaborate with her in learning and performing Malay songs.
Fan said she was inspired after witnessing the National Songstress deliver a stunning closing performance at the official launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 last night (Sept 27).
“Her stage presence is incredibly powerful. I was captivated by how Siti Nurhaliza performed with such brilliance. I feel very fortunate to have met her and taken a photo together. If the opportunity arises, I would love to learn Malay songs from her, which could also serve as a form of cultural collaboration,” she said at a press conference today.
The renowned actress, who starred in X-Men: Days of Future Past, also presented Siti with products from her own brand as a token of appreciation.
Reappointed as Tourism Friendship Ambassador for Visit Melaka Year 2026, Fan said she was motivated by the overwhelming success of 2025’s promotional activities to continue introducing Melaka’s rich culture, cuisine, murals, and hospitality to international audiences.
“Although plans for new projects, such as murals or promotional videos, have not been finalized, I am excited to return. The reception from the people and leaders of Melaka has been incredibly warm, and this role opens opportunities for global interaction through tourism,” she said.
She added that success should not only be measured by visitor numbers but also by the lasting memories tourists take home with them.
Fan also pointed out Melaka’s growing potential as a location for film production and artistic performances, citing its cultural diversity and heritage as unique assets.
She revealed that she has met with several Malaysian filmmakers, including award-winning director Chong Keat Aun, during her engagements in the state.
“I believe Melaka’s charm goes beyond tourism. It has the cultural depth and visual beauty that can inspire international cinema and arts,” she said.
