RIYADH, 17 September (VoM): King Salman has directed that the main airport road in the holy city of Madinah be renamed “Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road,” recognizing the Crown Prince’s role in driving Saudi Arabia’s development agenda.

The 13-kilometer stretch connects the Prophet’s Mosque to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, leading directly to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport and its Royal Terminal. The route is considered a vital corridor for millions of Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, as well as visitors traveling between the Prophet’s Mosque and Madinah airport.

Governor of the Madinah region, Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, underscored the Crown Prince’s pivotal role in launching transformative initiatives and strategic projects across the Kingdom, noting their significant impact on Madinah in particular, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to SPA, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road will serve as a central artery in the city, linking to three major highways: King Faisal Road (1st Ring), King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Road (2nd Ring), King Khalid Road (3rd Ring)

Several development projects are already in progress along the newly renamed road, including the construction of vehicle and pedestrian tracks and the rehabilitation of Wadi Qanat, a historic valley in Madinah.

Officials highlighted that these projects aim to enhance mobility, improve infrastructure, and elevate the overall experience for residents and millions of pilgrims who visit Madinah annually.
