DOHA, Sept 15 (VoM): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday declared that the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha represents the Islamic world’s unconditional support for Qatar, as leaders gathered to address Israel’s recent attack on the Qatari capital.
Speaking before heads of state and senior officials, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering solidarity with Qatar, calling the Gulf nation a “friendly, sisterly, and allied country.” He said Israel’s strike on residential compounds housing Hamas leaders in Doha had elevated “Israeli recklessness to another level” and demanded a stronger collective response.
“The Islamic world must step up its diplomatic efforts to impose sanctions on Israel,” Erdogan urged, stressing that continued aggression by the Israeli government reflects its intent to prolong “massacres and genocide in Palestine” while destabilizing the broader region.
The Turkish president warned that Israel’s expansionist ambitions threaten regional peace but emphasized that the Islamic world possesses both the wisdom and the means to stop such plans.
Reiterating Türkiye’s position on the Palestinian cause, Erdogan vowed to continue supporting the creation of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also underlined Türkiye’s readiness to share its defensive expertise with Arab and Islamic nations.
“Türkiye will continue this struggle diligently until justice is served and Palestine achieves full statehood,” he said, urging unity among Islamic nations to counter Israeli aggression and safeguard regional stability.
The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened in Doha following Israel’s airstrikes on the Qatari capital, has drawn high-level participation from across the Arab and Islamic world amid widespread calls for coordinated action.
