2.2 Million Students to Benefit from Buku Madani Voucher 2026, Redemption Begins Tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR: The Buku Madani Voucher Programme 2026 is expected to benefit more than 2.2 million students under the Ministry of Education (KPM) through an allocation of RM221.6 million, with redemption of the RM100 e-vouchers beginning tomorrow until 31 October.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said a total of 2,217,579 recipients, involving students from transition classes to Form Six, vocational college students, matriculation students and Malaysian Teacher Education Institute (IPGM) students, will benefit from the initiative.
He said voucher redemption, starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, will be fully implemented through the BookCapital platform, which now has 1,238 registered booksellers.
“This year, KPM has also introduced the Madani Special Title Focus, which includes literary works and masterpieces, general books and non-fiction related to history, philosophy, economics, geopolitics and human capital development.
“Focus is also given to books related to future science and technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), information technology, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields and digitalisation. Each recipient must purchase at least one book from the Madani Special Title Focus category,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Kah Woh said this in response to a supplementary question from Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) regarding improvements to the programme, as well as the number of students and teachers expected to benefit from the Buku Madani Voucher Programme 2026.
Responding to a supplementary question from Salamiah Mohd Nor (PN-Temerloh) regarding post-implementation studies of the programme, he said KPM had conducted evaluations, including obtaining feedback from recipients since the initiative was launched in 2024.
He said an impact study by the Darul Ehsan Institute found that 97.5 percent of respondents agreed that the Buku Madani Voucher greatly helped students, particularly those from low-income households, while 92.2 percent acknowledged that it helped them prepare for examinations.
“The implementation of the Buku Madani Voucher is conducted 100 per cent online through the BookCapital platform, and after two years of implementation, we have indeed conducted surveys among recipients,” he said.
Kah Woh said the programme also recorded a 100 per cent redemption rate in 2024, proving the effectiveness of digital implementation.
He said the online book purchasing and delivery method allows students nationwide, including those in rural areas, to enjoy equal access to reading materials.
“What we have achieved is 100 per cent redemption, 100 per cent transparency and zero leakage. We have also succeeded in ensuring the same books, the same opportunities and the same future for all Malaysian children, regardless of whether they are in urban or rural areas,” he said.
