17-Year-Old Killed in Motorcycle Collision in Hulu Besut

Jertih: A 17-year-old boy was killed in a motorcycle accident in Kampung Telaga Nibong, Hulu Besut, after colliding with another motorcycle on Saturday morning.

The victim, Muhammad Haziq Azman, who worked as a chicken sales assistant, died at the scene. The other motorcyclist, aged 35, sustained minor injuries in the 11:30 a.m. incident.

According to Besut OCPD Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim, preliminary investigations indicate that the other rider, on a Honda EX5, was traveling from Kampung Gong Nering to Kampung Telaga Nibong. He slowed down and signaled a left turn at a T-junction when Haziq, riding a Honda Wave 125, attempted to overtake.

“The victim’s bike grazed the Honda EX5 during the maneuver, causing him to lose control, skid, and hit a roadside pipe,” Supt. Rozaime said.

The body has been sent to Besut Hospital’s forensics unit for an autopsy. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1997. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the accident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
