KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Infaq Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) aims to raise RM7 million in donations throughout this year.

According to Berita Harian, its President, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah, stated that the target for donations involves their 7.2 million members as well as external contributors.

He mentioned that, as of August this year, they have successfully collected RM2 million in donations and hope for more contributions in various forms, including cash.

“For ANGKASA itself, we will donate RM1.5 million annually to Yayasan Infaq ANGKASA, while the rest is provided by external sources and members.

“Some members make salary deductions to Yayasan Infaq with a total amount exceeding RM90,000 per month, and we hope more will do the same.

“Given ANGKASA’s membership of 7.2 million, we are targeting to increase our donation collection to RM7 million annually starting this year, with an average donation of just RM1 per person,” he said.

He made these comments after officiating the closing ceremony of the Global Waqf Technology and Business Economics Conference in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) in Kota Bharu last night.

Further elaborating, he said that since Yayasan Infaq ANGKASA was established in 2010, they have successfully raised RM30 million, of which RM17 million has been spent on waqf activities, including the purchase of buildings.

He mentioned that the buildings are acquired to serve as business premises with significantly lower rental rates offered to interested parties.

“This is our goal, and we also aim for each state to have one waqf building to help strengthen the local economy.

“Currently, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur already have such waqf buildings, and we will strive to acquire properties in other states as well,” he said.
