Wait for full report after search and rescue operation completes, says Zaliha
KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr. Zaliha Mustafa stated that authorities are awaiting a full report from all teams involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation for victims of the landslide incident on Jalan Masjid India.
She said this is to identify the cause of the incident.
The full report will be released after the SAR operation is completed, and further actions will be discussed.
“The next steps (regarding the cause of the landslide) will be considered later. Two more manholes will be involved in the search until the final location at the Pantai Dalam pool is completed.
“If the victims are not found, we will reconvene to discuss the next steps,” she said at a press conference after visiting the landslide site on Jalan Masjid India.
She noted that the completion timeframe for the rescue operation has not yet been determined.
Zaliha added that the team will carry out mapping processes and gather detailed input, including geological aspects of the soil condition in the area.
“This is to ensure that the surrounding area of the incident is safe for road users,” she said.
Meanwhile, Zaliha advised the public to avoid visiting the incident site to allow authorities to conduct the SAR operation as efficiently as possible.
“All related agencies, including the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), are making every effort to ensure the SAR is conducted according to established procedures.
“Let us all pray for the best. Everyone is asked to remain patient and obtain information from verified sources as it becomes available,” she said.
