UPNM Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Halim Mazmin Group and Meritus University to Boost Maritime and Aviation Expertise

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) has formalized a strengthened strategic collaboration with Halim Mazmin Group and Meritus University, marking a significant step toward advancing Malaysia’s capabilities in maritime and aviation education.

A UPNM delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Lt Jen Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj. Ahmad, accompanied by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norhana binti Abdul Halim and several deans and directors, visited Meritus University for a high-level meeting. The delegation was received by Tan Sri (Dr.) Halim Mohammad, Founder and Executive Chairman of Meritus University, who highlighted the crucial role of academic-industry partnerships in nurturing innovation, leadership, and future-ready talent.

The program featured corporate video presentations from both institutions, a briefing by the UPNM representatives, discussions on emerging areas of collaboration, and a formal exchange of mementos to commemorate the partnership.

In a meaningful humanitarian effort, UPNM, Halim Mazmin Group, and Meritus University also agreed to work together to support the educational needs of children from veteran families. The initiative underscores a shared mission to uplift underprivileged communities while honoring the sacrifices and service of Malaysian veterans.

The expanded collaboration is expected to drive new opportunities for joint academic projects, research, innovative training modules, and expert exchanges, particularly in the fields of maritime operations and aviation. Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership will enhance national human capital development and strengthen Malaysia’s strategic education ecosystem.
