Two family members assisted in the investigation of the Zayn Rayyan case, and the police obtained the former babysitter’s testimony
KUALA LUMPUR: The police started calling the former nanny and two family members to assist in the investigation following the arrest of the parents of the autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin last Friday.
Berita Harian reported that the Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said that all the individuals were summoned to record their statements to complete the investigation.
“They were called to help and complete the police investigation. It is possible that we will call other individuals after this but it depends on the needs of the investigation,” he said.
Yesterday, the media reported that the police confiscated the mobile phones of Zayn Rayyan’s mother and father for further investigation.
Hussein reportedly said the seizure was a standard operating procedure (SOP) in the investigation.
Last Saturday, Hussein in a media statement confirmed that the police arrested both parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin to assist the police investigation.
He said the couple was arrested at 10.05am last Friday.
He said the arrest was carried out by a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters.
Both were then remanded last Saturday at the Petaling Jaya Court and allowed to be remanded for seven days until June 7.
Both of them were remanded for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
