Turkish President Erdogan Arrives in Johannesburg for G20 Leaders’ Summit

Johannesburg/Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday to attend the upcoming G20 leaders’ summit, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Erdogan landed at OR Tambo International Airport, where he was welcomed by South Africa’s Human Settlements Minister Thembisile Simelane, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pretoria Kezban Nilvana Darama Yıldırımgec, and other officials.

President Erdogan is accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Presidential Chief of Staff Hasan Dogan, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Omer Celik, and several other senior officials.

During the summit at the Johannesburg Expo Center, Erdogan is expected to participate in two sessions on Saturday, engage in bilateral meetings with various world leaders, and attend a formal dinner in honor of heads of state and government.

The G20 summit, bringing together leaders from the world’s largest economies, will focus on global economic cooperation, international security, and climate change, with Erdogan representing Turkey’s priorities on the international stage.
