Tun Dr Hasmah Spoke Extensively About God and the Afterlife with My Wife – Ahmad Zahid

SHAH ALAM: The late Tun Dr Hasmah Mohamad Ali spoke extensively about God, the afterlife and the Day of Judgement during her final meeting with the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at her residence last week.

Ahmad Zahid shared the account when he visited the late Dr Hasmah’s residence to pay his last respects.

According to Ahmad Zahid, the meeting touched on various memories from the past, as his wife, who is a member of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti), had the opportunity to have a lengthy conversation and reminisce with the late Dr Hasmah.

“My wife told me that she spoke a lot about God, as though she knew that she would be leaving us forever,” he said on Monday.

Earlier, Dr Hasmah’s son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, confirmed that she had passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr Hasmah, 100, was understood to have passed away at 9.20am.

Ahmad Zahid added that he and his family also deeply felt the loss of the late Dr Hasmah.

“We also pray that her family will be given strength and that she will be placed among the faithful, insya-Allah,” he said.

Commenting on Dr Hasmah’s passing and its significance to the country, Ahmad Zahid described it as a tremendous loss.

“This is a great loss because she served as the nation’s First Lady for 22 years. We certainly feel her loss deeply as she contributed immensely, particularly to women and members of Bakti,” he said.
